This picture shows a young Dylan in that now cliché but still classic 'rockstar with cigarette' pose. Draws a nice link between rock music and the steady decline of so many of its ambassadors, due to the drugs and alcohol which forms an integral part of their image.
I tried to get some deeper tone on this than ive got on stuff so far, using some softer pencils and smudging a bit. My first try at this though, so it hasnt really worked in some places. When I rubbed bits out for light sections I couldnt get them to blend in with the image properly again, because the line around the rubbed out section was to definite. Any ideas on techniques to get the smooth graduations of light and dark on a face would be greatly appreciated....
awesome, i wish i could draw classicaly like that. its so full of life

If breadcrumbs are better than nothing, and nothing is better than true love, than by using the mathimatical transitive property aren't breadcrumbs better than true love?
i have a recomendation. go to a local art supply store maybe michaels im not too sure and see if they have any graphite powder which is pretty much lead ground up to a fine powder. then using a soft brush dip it in the powder and brush it lightly on the piece it gives it a really nice smooth gradient like an aged black and white photo.
but man....fuckin bob dylan. im lovin this pic i think the sketchy feel you gave it works nicely with the way his music is portrayed and whatnot. great job.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
This contest ends on Friday the 18th December 2009. If you want to enter, get your entries in quick! Here are all the entries so far. Also if you want to donate a prize, that would be fantastic too, just note me
